Stocks and Mutual Funds have a place in the retirement world but are they right for you and your retirement plan? The following matrix outlines some of the items to consider when deciding on whether to invest in your own business or income property vs. investing in stock market vehicles.

Volatility We don't know of a case where property values go to zero. Business goes up and down, but at least you have a say on how you run your company.

Expenses Running your own company has business expenses. The same is true for owning income property. Much of those expenses is under your control and factored into your business decisions. Buying and selling and maintaining stock and mutual fund portfolio's has its own set of unique expenses, little of which you can control.
